Welcome to Kiel-ifornia, welcome to Fire Island.
What do you do when you grow up on the beach and can't surf? You swap the board for guitars and start a band. Good decision: Tequila & the Sunrise Gang
prove with multi-instrumental reggae rock sound and brilliant live performances supporting Mad Caddies (USA), Babylon Circus (France) or Panteón Rococó (Mexico) that "making waves" is not just a surfer thing.
Even if the sound is more driving, the gang of seven from the Kiel coast is in no way inferior to the Beach Boys when it comes to good humor. At live performances, tequila smashes over their audience like a wildly twitching party tsunami: in addition to guitars, bass, drums and a three-piece wind section, glockenspiel, mini-piano and melodica are also used.
»Fire Island« will be released in May 2016. A nearly 12-month live abstinence to focus solely on songwriting and studio recording is paying off. The sound of the new album is more powerful and the songs get you dancing more directly than ever.
"Fire Island" scores with the wandering through genres and music worlds known for Tequila & the Sunrise Gang as well as with its rousing energy.
The Kielers want to further expand the success of their last album "INTOACTION". It ranked #1 on the Amazon.de Reggae MP3 chart (08/03/2012) and #1 on the Amazon.de Ska/Worldmusic MP3 chart (08/03/2012).
With the first single from the new album, the band proves that the beach and the sea are far more to them than just places to spend their free time. »Campfire Light« draws attention to the ongoing pollution of the oceans. For years, Tequila & the Sunrise Gang have been committed to clean beaches with the Surfrider Foundation, among others.
»Fire Island« will be released again at the end of April 2016 on the German punk/rock label Uncle M Music (including Anti-Flag, Blackout Problems, KMPFSPRT, Boysetsfire). Shortly thereafter, Tequila & the Sunrise Gang started their nationwide tour to present the album on CD and to prove once again: The far north is stormy, but anything but cool.
